I experienced sleep paralysis for years. It stopped on its own eventually. I don't know why, and I can't tell you the methods in this app are what fixed it.
But friends of mine are dealing with it now, and some of them have it bad. When I went looking for something to point them toward, there was nothing good. The medical advice stops at sleep hygiene. Everything else is either dismissive or sensational.
I'm a software engineer. I spent months in the research: what neuroscience says about the sleep-wake transition, what Robert Monroe found when he systematically explored the same state, what Buddhist, Christian, yogic, and mediumship traditions independently converged on. Every serious framework starts with the same step: regulate your nervous system and establish a boundary before you do anything else.
Umbral is that convergence built into a daily practice. I'm not a doctor or a meditation teacher. I'm someone who went through this, did the research, and built the tool that should have existed.
